About Me

Flores Insecta is me, Madeline Cox, illustrator, sewist, and mostly ceramicist. Coming from an artistic family and formally educated in art history, my original dream was almost singularly focused on entering the art world. After years away from focused art practice I began creating watercolor and ink pieces in 2018 and thus, Flores Insecta was born. After hitting a creative rut during the pandemic, I decided to start taking classes at a local ceramics studio in a quest to start creating again. While I rarely paint with watercolors, I now focus on highly illustrative pieces using underglazes. I love intermingling the media backgrounds of painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpting with the functionality ceramics affords.
